Do you have a passion for books? If so then a book business would be a perfect fit for you. Perhaps you are like me, and the word passion doesn’t even begin to describe it. I can’t describe how wonderful it is to work in the book industry, but I have it even better than that! I am also in the people industry. I help people through the power of books.
A study recently conducted by Time magazine found half of the American workforce reports to a job they hate, working for a boss they can’t stand. Working for yourself naturally eliminates part of the problem. Add to that owning a business related to something you are passionate about and you have a fantastic match.
But it’s more than just the books. If it was just about the books I could sell used books through Amazon.com. I could traverse through the thrift stores and purchase books for sale on eBay. I could work on my computer, package the books, ship them, and get a little positive feedback on Amazon or eBay.
Helping people improve their financial life is so much more satisfying. Helping people gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed is so much more satisfying. Helping people change their life perspective is about passion. Better than the eBay feedback is getting feedback like I just got from a member of our downline who said, “I really appreciate the extra effort… you are awesome…. thanks so much for all you do… you truly an outstanding leader….”
Passion is just one part of the key to success. It takes some work. To be truly successful a person must be willing to adapt and change, to learn from those that have done it before. That doesn’t mean you can’t be creative. It just means be teachable and willing to help others achieve success. It’s a simple plan. Help enough other people be successful and you will be successful. BookWise is the perfect vehicle to do that.
I think Kathy Sierra described it perfectly on her blog when she said “The secret is simply this: you have a much better chance for success when your business model makes what’s good for the users match what’s good for the business, and vice-versa.”
A perfect example of relying on passion alone is the scrapbook industry. Hundreds of stores are closing. Not because the owners lacked passion, but because they lacked a solid business model and the knowledge about how to be successful. In other words, passion alone won’t cut it. You’ll have to rely on other skills as well. You’ll have to be willing to learn. Learn from every source you can. Learn and make a difference.
Business Tip: Your chance of success will improve dramatically if you can tie into a mentor that can teach you about what it takes to run a successful book business. Your success will be much quicker if you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars investing in a brick and mortar store front. You really do need to take a look at BookWise.
